Hyundai has offered to defer payments indefinitely for federal workers who have been furloughed due to the government shutdown. They are even deferring payments for 90 days on new cars for federal workers who still want to buy a new car, which seems like a poor idea but it's not my money. Way to go, Hyundai.

They seem to get it that when you go out of your way to treat people well, they buy more of your product. Jeff Bridges can say, "Hyundai: We've Got Your Back," on commercials all he wants, but ten commercials probably don't generate the good press that a simple program like this will.

It's working too. They love big news stories like this because even people who aren't in the government or Hyundai owners are looking at that story and thinking "Hmm what about a Hyundai?". Their top brass are certainly thinking with their moneymakers.

Hyundai cares, man. Hyundai cares.
